Juniper Publishers-Internal Neurolysis and Grafting of the Superficial Peroneal Nerve in the Treatment of Nerve Injury due to Compression using Avance® Nerve Graft

Image
Juniper Publishers-Open Access Journal of Orthopedics & Rheumatology Authored by Edgardo R Rodriguez Collazo Peripheral entrapment neuropathy in the lower extremity is caused by some anatomical configuration constricting the nerve, or in the case of trauma, some anatomical disposition rendering the nerve in an inflammatory state. In cases of multiple reconstructive surgeries of the lower extremity, scar tissue develops along the course of surgical incisions that can eventually impede on the normal function of surrounding nerve. The nerves affected can cause intractable pain that is unresponsive to conservative treatments. Surgeons may choose to perform surgical decompression with an external and or internal neurolysis. Juniper Publishers-Physeal Injuries are Special

Image
Juniper Publishers-Open Access Journal of Orthopedics & Rheumatology Physeal Injuries are Special Authored by Waleed Kishta Secondary ossification centers for the epiphysis and apophysis evolve through different stages until complete fusion. This evolution leads to variations in fracture patterns and based on mechanism and anatomical location. This is important as roughly 15% of all children fractures involve a physeal injury [1]. In this review, we will briefly touch on the mechanism, pathophysiology, diagnosis, investigations and management of physeal injuries related to secondary ossification. Three stages of secondary ossification, including: pre-ossification, pre-fusion, and incomplete fusion selected. Apophyseal injuries represent a special subset as their injury can fall into several categories based on stage of development.
