Peripheral entrapment neuropathy in the lower extremity is caused by some anatomical configuration constricting the nerve, or in the case of trauma, some anatomical disposition rendering the nerve in an inflammatory state. In cases of multiple reconstructive surgeries of the lower extremity, scar tissue develops along the course of surgical incisions that can eventually impede on the normal function of surrounding nerve. The nerves affected can cause intractable pain that is unresponsive to conservative treatments. Surgeons may choose to perform surgical decompression with an external and or internal neurolysis.

Intraarticular Injection of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Hyaluronic Acid (HA) in Early Knee Osteoarthritis-Juniper Publishers

Orthopedics & Rheumatology -Juniper Publishers Introduction: This is a comparative study between HA and PRP injection in knee osteoarthritis. A total of 224 patients with knee osteoarthritis (grade I and II) were enrolled in this study. The arthritic changes were graded according to the Kellgren and Lawrence radiological scale. In the first group, 116 patients were intra-articularly injected with PRP three times with two weeks interval. In the second group, 108 patients were injected with three intra-articular injections of hyaluronic acid with two weeks interval. The patient’s age and sex were comparable in both groups. In the PRP group, the mean of follow up was 30.34 months, while in the hyaluronic injection group, it was 28.886 months. Results: At the end of follow, in the PRP group, 85 patients (73.3%) had satisfactory results, while 31 patients (26.7%) had unsatisfactory. Treatment of Intertrochanteric Hip Fractures in Elderly High Risk Patients with External Fixation

All fractures healed within 4 months. Three patients had a superficial pin tract infection and one deep infection. Shortening of 1cm or more was seen in 2 patients. Varus angulation of 5º or more was seen in 2 patients but this seems to be well tolerated by the elderly.
